The Ugly Card - win a stamp set

So did you ever have a stamp you wanted to try and have no plan for? Well I colored the bee, added the glitter and gems then didn't know what to do. So I put this together all the colors match so it works. I would remove the sign but then I would have a hole. Leave a comment and tell me how to tweak this and if your suggestion is chosen I will send you a stamp set I have new from TAC. This will go for 1 week so next Saturday I will pick the person by a paper bag, shake and contact you. Tell everyone you know.

Helen, it's a really nice card (the sentiment is adorable), but I think it needs more of the focal color - yellow. If you have some yellow ink & a sponge, try doing some lightly around the edges of the card base & see if that helps pull it back together.

Cute bee!! I think maybe the orange color isn't working with the image as well. It matches the paper, but it is drawing away focus from the rest of the card. Is it possible to take the orange border off and use a black border instead? I think that the black would really ground the image and sentiment and give the image the attention it deserves. Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

I agree with Nora and Jennifer. The colors just don't seem to be working together. I think I would change the orange to black. And maybe bue the flowers to yellow ones to go with the bee. This is an interesting card to work with. The bee is really cute!

I think the orange layers should be switched to green (same green as the other layer). Center the bee layers under the saying. Change the blue brads to yellow and put one on each side of the bee which is now centered under the saying.

I also agree with The top two comments. I would probably also switch the bee and brads to the top and the saying to the bottom.

Such a cute image and great start to the card

I love the images of the card. I agree with all the comments that have been made. I will say that my rule of thumb is when a color you are using to mat with just over powers your focal point to mat in black. It usually works. Also cut your mats 1/8" wider than the previous size to add only a little bit of color. That works great also.
By the way... ihave those little brads the say "Don't pick the flowers". I thought they were too cute.

I love the bee. He is so adorable. Personally, I probably would have made the card yellow for more of a focal point to match the bee. Not used any green even though I know you were trying to match his feet. Not used the blue flower brads but maybe punch some out of yellow cardstock with some green leaves and a hint of a darker orange flower. I think the orange is too bright. Since there is blue in the paper (which I really like) how about bringing in a blue print to go with that print and then also add a blue solid behind the yellow. Too much, huh? You know me, over the top with lots of layers. But, in all honesty, I really like this card. Luv ya, Kym

I'm thinking maybe more of a floral background paper. It could be in a subtle color. I'm also in agreement that the orange layer would be better black.

I agree. Great stamps but, although he's the focal point, the other colors don't stand up to him. I LIKE all the colors you've used, I would just add another layer of black behind each of the orange layers and change the white base or add a stronger layer on top of it so it is less "there".

the green seems to be quite strong for the outline. How about using a blue instead, to go with the blue in the pattern and the flowers?

Not too bothered by the orange - but do agree with the others that black may have been a better choice. I like to use corner punches when layering that many pieces and maybe sponging the white with some yellow could cut down the stark contrast.

The stamp is really cute - I probably would do the same - stamp the image and then think what to do with it ;)

But it looks like you redone it really great and I'm not leaving any advise now :)

I think yellow and white gingham with some black card stock. Also, love the "Don't pick the flowers" sign. It should stay on there. Don't change anything you did with the bee, soooo cute. mel

I liked the second card color combination better. The white flower left something to brighten,
needed a bit more pick me up.
